The parents of the group NewJeans have stepped forward once again.
On the 19th, the parents of NewJeans (NJZ) released a statement through their social media accounts, stating, "We recently heard from a representative of Complexcon, who is helping with the concert preparations, that Bang Si-hyuk, the chairman of HYBE, personally called American officials to pressure them into canceling the NJZ members' performance." They continued, "It seems that HYBE, just like before, views the members merely as a means to make money, and instead of supporting them, they are thinking only of obstructing and undermining their success."
The parents also mentioned that they sent a protest email to Chairman Bang last April but received no response, stating, "If you have so much to say, please call us directly instead of elsewhere." They added, "We also do not understand why the chairman of HYBE is personally intervening in the dispute with ADOR. Do you really think you can claim that ADOR and HYBE are not one and the same after this?"
The parents also noted that they received information that five music organizations are scheduled to hold a press conference at a hotel on the 27th. They said, "It has been reported that there was an option to provide lunch at the press conference, but since the lunch cost at OO Hotel is at least 100,000 won, we are skeptical about whether many journalists will be able to attend, considering the Kim Young-ran Act. Is it realistically possible to have a lunch meeting with obvious intentions targeting the media?"
They further stated, "The five associations not only distributed the information in the morning but also redistributed the same content around 1 PM. What intention could there be in redistributing the same content on the same day instead of a corrected distribution? Isn’t this exactly what we mean by manipulating public opinion?"
In conclusion, the parents said, "The NJZ members are excited and happy to show a new side to fans around the world for the first time, away from the terrible experiences with HYBE and ADOR, and are diligently preparing for the performance."
The members of NewJeans have declared the termination of their exclusive contract with their agency ADOR and are continuing their independent activities. Additionally, they have announced their activities under the new team name 'NJZ' instead of NewJeans.
