The ‘32nd Hanter Music Awards 2024’ (hereinafter ‘32ND HMA 2024’) concluded its first day schedule. The group Tomorrow X Together (TXT) and aespa were honored with the grand prize.
On the 15th, the ceremony for the first day of ‘32ND HMA 2024’, hosted and organized by Hanter Global, the operator of the world’s only real-time music chart, Hanter Chart, was held at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Jung-gu, Seoul.
The event featured MCs Jin-young and Mi-yeon, along with performers including Kim Jae-joong, NOWADAYS, Minnie, SAY MY NAME, ARTMS, Yeonjun, Lee Mujin, EPEX, Insooni, TXT, and tripleS, as well as presenters such as Kahee, Kwon In-ha, Kim Jo-han, Nicole, Brian, Andy, Yoon Sang, Jung Seon-ah, and Hwanhee, gathering to celebrate the achievements of 2024.
In the award categories, Tomorrow X Together shone brightly. They achieved four awards, including ‘Artist of the Year’, ‘Global Artist in North America’, ‘Top Touring Artist’, and the highest honor of ‘Grand Prize - Best Performance’ at the ‘32ND HMA 2024’.
Additionally, TXT member Yeonjun won ‘Global Artist in Oceania’ as a solo artist, bringing their total trophy count to an impressive five on that day.
Notably, this was the first time that Tomorrow X Together received the grand prize and Yeonjun won a trophy as a solo artist, adding to the significance of the moment.
Alongside Tomorrow X Together, (G)I-DLE also made a remarkable impact. They achieved two awards, including ‘Artist of the Year’ and ‘Global Generation Icon’, while member Minnie won ‘The Most Prime Solo’, bringing their total to three trophies.
(G)I-DLE's moment of being announced as winners saw MC Mi-yeon momentarily step down from the stage to share in the joy of the award with Minnie, creating a memorable scene that will be long remembered from the ‘32ND HMA 2024’.
In the performance category, Tomorrow X Together also shone. Yeonjun, who appeared at the start of the second part, showcased what it means to be a world-class performer with ‘GGUM’, and the group’s performances of ‘Deja Vu’ and ‘Over The Moon’ clearly demonstrated why they achieved four awards, including the grand prize.
The impressive performances did not stop there. Lee Mujin’s ‘Youth Cartoon’, which captivated both the audience and fellow artists in the waiting area with its perfect live performance and stage presence, and Minnie’s ‘Her’ and ‘Cherry Sky’, which showcased overwhelming visuals reminiscent of a photoshoot, were highlights of the ‘32ND HMA 2024’.
Additionally, SAY MY NAME, who experienced the joy of performing and winning at their debut awards ceremony, delivered an emotional acceptance speech, while new artists like ARTMS, EPEX, NOWADAYS, and tripleS also received great cheers and applause from the audience.
Among them, the most eye-catching performance was the collaboration between legends Insooni and Kim Jae-joong. Starting with Kim Jae-joong’s lead, ‘The Dream of a Goose’ was seamlessly taken over by Insooni without accompaniment, and their duet created the most dramatic and touching moment of the first day of ‘32ND HMA 2024’ with their explosive vocal power.
The meeting of Kim Jae-joong and Insooni was a stage that clearly demonstrated the ‘connection’ from the past to the present and future of K-pop, which the ‘32ND HMA 2024’ aims to achieve, and it will be remembered for a long time.
Furthermore, ‘32ND HMA 2024’ shone not only in performances but also in other aspects. The large stage set, which maximized the use of the Jangchung Gymnasium, provided the audience with excellent visibility and overwhelming immersion, receiving high praise. Additionally, free live broadcasts were conducted on various channels, including Mnet, Tving (domestic streaming), and BIKK (global streaming), catering to fans who could not visit the venue. With camera work that received feedback as ‘the best ever’, it captured the hearts of both the audience on-site and at home.
Thus, the ‘32ND HMA 2024’, which created moments that truly fit the word ‘perfect’ both internally and externally, is now looking forward to the second day ceremony on the 16th.
On the 16th, the ‘32ND HMA 2024’ will be held again at the Jangchung Gymnasium, featuring RIIZE, LIGHTSUM, 8TURN, NCT WISH, Young Tak, YOUNG POSSE, EVNNE, Lee Seung-yoon, Choi Yena, and Heo Yong-byeol (Heo Gak, Shin Yong-jae, Lim Han-byeol), with presenters including Kim Yong-jun, Kim Ho-young, Mew, Soyou, Lee Hee-jin, Insooni, Jang Woo-hyuk, JeA, and Hwangbo continuing the reputation of the ‘fundamental awards ceremony connecting music to music’.
Meanwhile, the ‘32ND HMA 2024’ will hold a red carpet ceremony at 5 PM on the 16th, which can be viewed on the global entertainment tech company BIKK. The main performance, starting at 7 PM, will be broadcast live on Mnet, Tving (domestic streaming), and BIKK (global streaming).
