Taeyeon from Girls' Generation and Wendy from Red Velvet, who will not be attending the SM Entertainment (hereafter SM) 30th anniversary concert, have publicly expressed their dissatisfaction with the agency.

SM will hold the 'SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in SEOUL' concert at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 11th and 12th.

However, ahead of the concert, news of the absence of affiliated artists has been reported one after another. SM announced last December that “Taeyeon from Girls' Generation will not be performing,” and on the 6th, they stated, “Wendy from Red Velvet will not be performing due to personal reasons.”

As both Taeyeon and Wendy are key members of SM's representative girl groups, curiosity about the reasons for their absence from the concert has increased, and the two expressed their positions directly through a fan communication platform.

On the 6th, Taeyeon stated on the fan communication platform Bubble, “I wanted to perform wonderfully on stage and was eager to do 2-3 songs, so I told the company and waited,” adding, “It’s absolutely not that I lack motivation or don’t want to perform. I am sincere and passionate about the stage and want to do my best, but I am seriously considering it because they are not helping me.”

Taeyeon also caught attention by responding to a fan's message saying, “The company must have its own circumstances. It must be awkward,” with, “It could be awkward if they forgot to convey those circumstances.”

Wendy also mentioned communication issues with the agency on the fan communication platform.

He pointed out, “The conversation with the company happened over a month ago, but the announcement just went up today,” and added, “There must have been many ‘Luvies’ (the name of Red Velvet's fandom) waiting for the five-member stage. I’m sorry. Since it’s the 30th anniversary, there will be various stages prepared. I hope you have a good time. I’m always grateful and sorry.”

Meanwhile, the 'SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in SEOUL' will feature Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Hyoyeon from Girls' Generation, Key and Minho from SHINee, Suho and Chanyeol from EXO, Red Velvet, NCT 127, NCT DREAM, WayV, aespa, RIIZE, NCT WISH, nævis, and Raiden.
