Actress Yeom Hye-ran made a bombshell statement that filled the venue with laughter.
On the 18th, an off-talk for the invited film “It Can't Be Helped” was held at the outdoor stage of the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae, Busan, as part of the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). Director Park Chan-wook and actors Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, and Park Hee-soon attended.
“It Can't Be Helped,” selected as the opening film of this year's Busan Film Festival, tells the story of an office worker named “Bum-mo” (played by Lee Byung-hun), who feels satisfied with his life but suddenly gets fired. To protect his wife and two children and to keep the house he worked hard to acquire, he prepares for his own war towards re-employment.
In the film, Lee Sung-min and Yeom Hye-ran play a couple. Lee Sung-min described his character, saying, “Bum-mo is a short but intense character. You will understand when you watch the movie. And you will see my very generous back.”
Yeom Hye-ran introduced her role as “Ara, Bum-mo's wife. She is a romantic person who keeps auditioning despite repeatedly failing. She is a woman who is dissatisfied with Bum-mo's unemployed state.”
She then drew attention by saying, “In the movie, you can see Bum-mo's sexy back and Ara's sexy front.”
The 30th Busan Film Festival will meet audiences with a total of 328 films from 64 countries, including 87 films in the Community BIFF and 32 films in the Neighborhood BIFF. It will be held until the 26th around the Busan Cinema Center.
