Actor Jang Dong-yoon will attend the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival as a director.
His second feature film as a director, 'Nuruk', has been officially invited to the 'Merry Go Round' section of the 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), which will be held from July 3 to 13.
‘Nuruk’ delicately unfolds the conflicts and reconciliations within a family against the backdrop of a traditional makgeolli brewery, as well as the clash between tradition and modernity.
The protagonist, Dasul, who has been running the brewery with his father, experiences an emotional inner transformation amidst the conflict surrounding the nuruk he has cherished for many years. This work goes beyond a simple fermentation theme to deeply convey the subject of 'reconciliation with the past', aiming to deliver a profound resonance to the audience.
This invitation signifies a significant leap for Jang Dong-yoon as a feature film director, moving beyond short films. In particular, the detailed portrayal of character psychology and the exquisite mise-en-scène, which received acclaim in his previous work 'Be My Ears', is expected to be even more deeply realized in this film.
During the festival, Jang Dong-yoon will also participate in a talk with the audience (GV) to share the story behind the work and the directing process.
