“I think being able to experience things that cannot be done in reality is the privilege of an actor. I don't think I could do this kind of love.”

Doh Kyung-soo (32), a member of EXO and an actor, has taken on his first melodrama challenge through the fantasy romance 'Secret That Cannot Be Told'.

In an interview for 'Secret That Cannot Be Told' (directed by Seo Yu-min) held at a café in Samcheong-dong on the 22nd, Doh Kyung-soo expressed his hopes, saying, “I hope many people will visit the cinema. These days, theaters are struggling a lot, but I hope anyone who loves movies will come and watch any film.” He then added with a smile, “Of course, I hope you will definitely watch 'Secret That Cannot Be Told'.”

He mentioned, “As a melodrama based on a solid original work without sensationalism, I believe many people will be able to enjoy it comfortably,” and added, “Box office success is something that an actor cannot control, but I will do my best to work hard. I truly believe it is a work that deserves love.”

The film is a fantasy romance that captures the miraculous moment when Yu-jun and Jung-ah accidentally meet in a university campus practice room where the secret of time is hidden. It is a remake of the Taiwanese film of the same name released in 2007.

Pianist Yu-jun (Doh Kyung-soo) comes to Korea as an exchange student for wrist treatment while studying in Germany. On his first day at school, he is drawn to a mysterious piano melody and arrives at the practice room, where he meets Jung-ah (Won Jin-ah), and the two fall in love at first sight.

Unlike Yu-jun, who moves forward without hesitation, Jung-ah is hard to read. She is mysterious. Their encounters keep crossing paths, getting closer only to drift apart again. In the midst of this, In-hee (Shin Ye-eun), who misinterprets Yu-jun's feelings, suddenly confesses, and Jung-ah gets hurt. After that day, as Yu-jun searches for Jung-ah, who has disappeared, he uncovers an unbelievable secret.

“I watched the original a long time ago, so after deciding to participate, I watched it again,” he said. “When I saw it as a child, I just thought it was fun, but watching it again, I noticed other things as well. Of course, the biggest impression was that it was still entertaining, but other elements also caught my eye in detail. It inspired me.”

After the release of the work, Doh Kyung-soo's unique 'eagle eye' became a hot topic. He laughed, saying, “Unlike the original male lead, the Korean version is a very proactive and straightforward man. I didn't intend to differentiate with my eyes, but it seems to have matched well with the character's setting.”

He continued, “I think the love between these two people is extraordinary. If I think realistically, it’s something I could never do. I believe this kind of love is impossible outside of a movie. So, expressing this story was fun, meaningful, and provided vicarious satisfaction. It was a unique experience that only an actor can have, and that was quite fascinating,” he candidly stated.
