Diane Keaton, an actress who gained popularity in Hollywood films such as 'The Godfather' and 'Annie Hall' in the 1970s, has passed away at the age of 79.
The late actress's spokesperson stated, "At this time, we cannot disclose any further details. The family requests privacy during this time of deep sorrow." Local fire department reports indicate that Keaton was transported to a nearby hospital from her home.
Born in 1946, Keaton had a keen interest in singing and acting since high school, participating in school music and theater clubs. After graduating high school in 1963, she enrolled in a community college near her home to study acting but dropped out after a year to move to Manhattan, New York, to prepare for her debut in the entertainment industry.
Keaton made her debut in the 1968 Broadway musical 'Hair' and rose to stardom in the 1970s by appearing in films directed by Woody Allen.
In April 1977, she starred as Allen's quirky love interest in the romantic comedy 'Annie Hall', which earned her widespread acclaim and led to her winning the Academy Award for Best Actress the following year.

In the film 'The Godfather', she gained significant attention for her role as Kay Adams, the wife of Michael Corleone, witnessing his transformation into a cold-blooded figure.
She was nominated for several Oscars for films such as 'Reds' (1981), 'Marvin's Room' (1996), and 'Something's Gotta Give' (2003), but did not win.
Notably, she is remembered by Korean film fans as the actress who presented the Best Original Screenplay award to director Bong Joon-ho and screenwriter Han Jin-won for 'Parasite' at the 2020 Academy Awards.
Her androgynous fashion sense, turtleneck sweaters that enveloped her neck, and signature hats became her trademarks.
