Seoul's mascot Haechi is making its debut as the main character in an animation.
EBS1 will broadcast the Chuseok special animation ‘My Secret Friend Haechi’ on October 8 at 2:50 PM.
Haechi's debut work, ‘My Secret Friend Haechi’, tells the story of Haechi, the guardian of the celestial realm, solving mysterious magical incidents happening in Seoul. The Chuseok special edition is an edited version of episodes 1 to 3 of the series, designed to provide the most vivid experience of the world view. The regular broadcast is scheduled to start in December.
In the story, Haechi stays at the home of an ordinary elementary school student, Yun-ho, and solves bizarre magical events set against famous Seoul landmarks like Gwanghwamun and Bukhansan. The fantasy events occurring in familiar places provide viewers with a sense of familiarity and immersion, offering a unique enjoyment that differentiates it from other works. Additionally, attractive characters from the celestial realm will appear one after another, hinting at the expansion of the world view.
Notably, a beloved character will also join. ‘Tayo the Little Bus’, which was created based on Seoul city buses and has grown into a global IP, will make a special appearance. ‘Tayo’ is a co-produced animation by Iconix, EBS, and the Seoul City, and has maintained consistent popularity since its first broadcast in 2010. This collaboration connects the worlds of the two works.
‘My Secret Friend Haechi’ will premiere on October 8 at 2:50 PM on EBS1, with regular broadcasting starting in December.
