Singer Namgoong Ok-boon paid tribute to the late Jeon Yoo-sung.
On the 25th, Namgoong Ok-boon posted on her Instagram account, "Jeon Yoo-sung! Like a star, you have become a star. He was like the North Star to comedians."
She continued, "After coming to this land in 1949, he left behind numerous achievements and passed away. I visited my brother at the café run by his daughter on August 28, and I didn't expect him to leave so soon."
Namgoong Ok-boon shared, "Just yesterday, he replied 'yes' at 9:04 PM to a KakaoTalk message about doing strength training, and then he left us today at 9:05 PM. He refused life-sustaining treatment, had many conversations with his daughter, and left us in a way that was true to Jeon Yoo-sung."
She expressed her feelings, saying, "A precious person who kept an eye on the world through his phone, checked social media, and never let go of a book until the end. I feel a sense of emptiness at the departure of such a wonderful person who created so many amazing things."
Additionally, she mentioned, "He is currently on his way to Asan Hospital, and the funeral will be held under the leadership of Kim Hak-rae, the head of the association, as a comedian's funeral. I pray for the soul of my brother, who lived magnificently and will not be replaced by another hero."
According to the Korea Broadcasting Comedians Association, Jeon Yoo-sung passed away on the 25th at around 9:05 PM due to worsening symptoms of pleural effusion.
