The OTT platform Wave has announced the end of SBS live broadcasting and VOD services.

According to a notice from Wave on the 1st, SBS's live broadcasting and VOD services will end at 9 AM on September 30.

As a result, SBS entertainment and cultural programs such as ‘Running Man’, ‘My Ugly Duckling’, ‘Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny’, ‘I Want to Know That’, and ‘The Story of That Day’ will no longer be available on Wave.

However, programs from SBS affiliated channels such as ‘I Am Solo’ and ‘I Am Solo, The Love Continues’ will still be available for viewing.

After the service ends, SBS Biz, SBS funE, SBS Life, and SBS Plus will still be available for VOD viewing on Wave, and SBS Biz, THE K-POP, and SBS Plus will be able to watch live broadcasts.

This service termination by Wave appears to be due to SBS entering into a strategic partnership with Netflix last December for a six-year content supply.

The partnership included provisions for ▲Providing SBS new and existing dramas, entertainment, and cultural programs to domestic Netflix members ▲Simultaneous global release of some new SBS dramas, leading to the expectation that content supply to Wave would be halted.
