A fierce competition to determine the ‘strongest physical nation in Asia’ is about to take place.
On the 19th, Netflix revealed the 48 athletes who will participate in the national competition ‘Physical: Asia’, featuring 8 Asian countries. Teams composed of 6 representatives from each country, including Korea, Japan, Thailand, Mongolia, Turkey, Indonesia, Australia, and the Philippines, will engage in intense competition.
The Korean team is centered around Kim Dong-hyun, the first Korean athlete in the UFC, known as ‘Stun Gun’. Former skeleton national representative Yoon Sung-bin, traditional wrestling champion Kim Min-jae, ‘Physical: 100 Season 2’ winner Amoti, former wrestling national representative Jang Eun-sil, and CrossFit Asia No. 1 Choi Seung-yeon will also participate, upholding the pride of the host nation.
The leader lineup of each country's team is also impressive. The Japanese team is led by the legendary Okami Yushin, who has the most wins in UFC Asia, the Australian team is led by former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, and the Philippine team is led by boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, who has won titles in 8 weight classes.
Thai Muay Thai champion Superbon, Mongolian traditional wrestler Erdenebayar Bayarsaikhan, Turkish oil wrestling champion Recep Kara, and Indonesian bodybuilder Igetz Executioner are among the leaders from each country's traditional sports and physical powerhouses, drawing attention.
In this competition, athletes from various sports, including traditional sports like wrestling, oil wrestling, and Muay Thai, as well as athletics, ball games, parkour, and strongman events, will compete against each other. Based on the massive arenas and worldviews of the existing ‘Physical’ series, a grand national competition featuring the strategies and teamwork of Asian countries is set to unfold.
Producer Jang Ho-ki stated, “The essence of the ‘Physical’ series lies in competition that transcends disciplines and ages,” and added, “As ‘Physical: Asia’ is the first stage where the series, which started in Korea, expands to Asia, it will provide even hotter competition and emotional moments, infused with national pride.”
‘Physical: Asia’ will meet viewers around the world on Netflix this October.
