Broadcaster Ahn Sun-young mentioned her relationship with her mother, who is currently suffering from dementia.
On the 18th, Ahn Sun-young released a video on YouTube titled "Understanding and forgiving the mother I hated my whole life... What is family?"
Ahn Sun-young stated, "Honestly, I have never gotten along well with my mother," referring to their mother-daughter relationship. She said, "Recently, my mother has become like a complete baby. I thought her life was pitiful," and added, "I couldn't get along with her until I saw her deteriorate and become like a child."
She also mentioned that even after giving birth to her son, she struggled to understand her mother, saying, "After having and raising my son, I found it even harder to forgive my mother. I wondered why she took out her anger on me when she was so small and pretty."
Ahn Sun-young recalled that her mother would wake her up from sleep and hit her for no reason during her childhood. She added, "Looking back now, it still makes me sad."
However, she explained that she understood her mother's difficult life, having become a widow at a young age and having to sell cosmetics to make a living.
Ahn Sun-young admitted, "It's true that I couldn't forgive her, but my mother has been diagnosed with dementia for over seven years. It would have been easier if I had forgiven her sooner, but I only felt pity after she collapsed in front of me due to a stroke last year," and mentioned, "Only then did I forgive her. I wasted 50 years hating this pitiful person."
