Actress Son Ye-jin made a bold promise wishing for the blockbuster success of the movie "No Way Out" (directed by Park Chan-wook).
On the 18th, an off-talk event for the film "No Way Out," invited to the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), was held at the outdoor stage of the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae-gu, Busan. Director Park Chan-wook and actors Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, and Park Hee-soon attended.
Selected as the opening film of this year's Busan Film Festival, "No Way Out" tells the story of an office worker, "Man-soo" (played by Lee Byung-hun), who feels that he has achieved everything in life but suddenly gets fired. To protect his wife and two children and to keep the house he worked hard to buy, he prepares for his own war towards re-employment.
Director Park Chan-wook had previously expressed his dream of achieving 10 million admissions, and in response to the request to make a promise if they succeed, Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin stepped up as representatives.
First, Lee Byung-hun said, "If our movie successfully attracts 10 million viewers, I don't know what form it will take, but whether together or alone, depending on the situation, I will visit theaters guerrilla-style for a week."
He added, "Our movie has a gloomy and sad emotion underlying it, but it’s not just that. It’s rumored to be a black comedy, but it has a strange emotional charm that is not just funny. I hope the audience finds many delicate things in it."
Son Ye-jin stated, "There is a scene in the film where we wear costumes and dance," and said, "If we get 10 million viewers, all of us cast members will dress up and dance in the busiest places like Myeongdong or COEX, including the director," surprising everyone.
Director Park added, "Above all, I want to boast about the actors in our film," and said, "Each one is the protagonist of their scene. Every time a new character appears, the chapter changes and the genre expands. I really want to boast about that." He also suggested, "To truly feel that charm, I recommend watching it twice."
