Legendary group ‘Fire Truck’ producer Jung Won-kwan expressed his respect for Lee Soo-man, the former chairman of SM.
On the 2nd, a video titled ‘The Original of Korean Idols! Fire Truck’s Jung Won-kwan’ was posted on the YouTube channel ‘Song Seung-hwan’s Wonderful Life.’
Having debuted with Fire Truck in 1987, he has been active in the entertainment industry for 38 years, working as a music producer, company representative, and president of Bugs Music.
In the video, Jung Won-kwan said, “I tried to erase the identity of (Fire Truck), but it wasn’t easy. Now I wonder if there’s even a need to do that. I feel like I’ve lived over 50 years without any major incidents, thanks to the love and support I received.”
After Fire Truck, he was involved in producing first-generation idols like NRG, as well as artists such as Jo PD, Insooni, Hwayobi, and Kim Jo-han. He particularly mentioned planning the 13-member girl group i-13, saying, “I trained kids who were attending dance academies to become singers. We traveled by a rapping bus and so on,” adding, “But it didn’t succeed commercially.”
He continued, “While working with that team, I thought Lee Soo-man from SM was amazing. I realized that the SM system was much more systematically organized. I did this because I liked it,” and smiled, saying, “Some of the younger members of i-13 were in elementary school, and now they are sending me wedding invitations.”
Additionally, he mentioned, “I am currently running a marketing company,” and added, “Since I was young, I’ve thought about what could make this restaurant do better, and it has expanded into helping with corporate branding and expansion.”
