Choi Jung-won, a singer and actor from the group UN, has directly clarified the fact that he has been charged with stalking.
On the 20th, Choi Jung-won stated through his SNS, "The content reported yesterday is a personal conflict between my girlfriend and me, and it is a kind of incident that arose from a minor dispute that was blown out of proportion."
He continued, "During the process of heightened emotions, misunderstandings arose between us, and I feel very regretful that the situation was conveyed differently from the facts."
Choi Jung-won emphasized that the claims of threats with a weapon and stalking are completely unfounded. He also stated that both he and his girlfriend deny the allegations and will respond strongly to the false information.
According to News1 on the 19th, the Central Police Station in Seoul has charged Choi with violating the law on the punishment of stalking crimes. Additionally, an emergency protective order was requested from the court and approved the day before. Choi is reported to be accused of visiting the home of a woman he recently knew while carrying a weapon.
The emergency protective order prohibits the stalker from approaching the victim's residence within 100 meters and from contacting them through telecommunications. Violating this order can result in a fine of up to 10 million won.
Choi Jung-won expressed, "I apologize for my private life causing misunderstandings and being reported as uncomfortable news. I will act with more caution and responsibility."
Previously, in 2022, Choi Jung-won was embroiled in an affair scandal with a married acquaintance. In December of last year, the 3rd Division of the Seoul Family Court ruled that A, a friend of Choi, was the cause of the marriage breakdown, stating that A had lied during the marriage and met Choi, and ordered A to pay 30 million won in damages. Additionally, B, A's husband, filed a lawsuit against Choi for 100 million won in damages.
