Singer Kim Jong-kook announced his marriage, and his close celebrity friends, including Haha, were reportedly completely unaware.
According to a confirmation from Maeil Business Star Today on the 18th, some fellow celebrities, including Haha and Song Ji-hyo, were not informed in advance about Kim Jong-kook's marriage.
On this day, Kim Jong-kook revealed the marriage news during the opening of the SBS variety show 'Running Man' in which he appears. The scene of his marriage announcement is set to be aired on September 7th.
Having worked together on 'Running Man' for over 10 years, it was expected that the members would have been informed beforehand, but Kim Jong-kook's meticulous personality was once again evident.
Kim Jong-kook did not give any hints to the members or the staff, including his manager, until just before the recording began. As a result, the scene was reportedly filled with shock at his marriage announcement.
In particular, Kim Jong-kook has been running a meat restaurant with Haha. Despite their close relationship, it is said that he did not share the marriage details or schedule with Haha in advance.
Kim Jong-kook has shown a frugal side and has emphasized his meticulous and detailed personality. As proof of this, he has been cautious and reserved regarding his marriage news. Some speculate that he was even more careful because his fiancée is a civilian.
Kim Jong-kook posted a handwritten letter on his fan cafe, sharing his thoughts on marriage in detail. He said, “This year marks my 30th anniversary since debut, but instead of making the album I wanted, I made my other half. Still, I hope you will congratulate and support me,” and added, “Although it’s late, I’m grateful to be going this way.”
He continued, “I will live well. I plan to hold a small and quiet wedding in the near future. I will strive to be a hardworking and diligent Kim Jong-kook.”
Kim Jong-kook debuted as a member of Turbo in 1995 and has now reached his 30th year. He has achieved great success with team hits like ‘Memories’ and ‘Black Cat Nero’, as well as solo songs like ‘One Man’, ‘My Place’, and ‘Lovely’, winning the ‘Korean Music Awards’.
He is currently focusing more on variety show activities than on singing.
