Broadcaster Hong Jin-kyung (47) has divorced.
According to her agency, TN Entertainment, Hong Jin-kyung has separated from her husband after 22 years of marriage. Regarding this matter, Hong Jin-kyung appeared on her close friend broadcaster Jeong Seon-hee's YouTube channel 'Jeong Seon-hee's Home' to discuss her divorce directly.
On that day, a video titled 'Hong Jin-kyung, Jeong Seon-hee's 30-year close friend, a story only friends can share' was posted on 'Jeong Seon-hee's Home'. Here, Hong Jin-kyung opened up about her divorce, saying, "It's unfortunate that we could only regain our true friendship after becoming strangers, but I am getting along well with my (ex) husband."
It is reported that Hong Jin-kyung's divorce was finalized by mutual agreement several months ago. She mentioned that she contemplated the timing of making it public, stating, "I can say anything honestly in front of (sister) Jeong Seon-hee, so I'm speaking here."
Hong Jin-kyung, who first met her ex-husband in 1998 and has known him for 27 years, emphasized, "It wasn't a matter of anyone's fault that we separated; we thought we would try living differently. After breaking up and becoming strangers, we developed a true friendship, and he is now a very good older brother to me, apart from the romantic relationship we had."
She also revealed that both families still maintain a good relationship and visit each other.
When asked if there was a decisive reason for the divorce, Hong Jin-kyung's response was muted. She expressed her honest feelings, saying, "If I say 'everyone lives like that' regarding the reason, I have nothing to say, but it was a personal choice, and that part was difficult for us."
Jeong Seon-hee embraced Hong Jin-kyung, saying, "I believe the public will understand how intense this process has been with so many struggles. A new page has begun."
Hong Jin-kyung married her husband, a businessman five years her senior, in 2003. They welcomed their daughter, Kim Ra-el, in 2010.
In this context, entertainment media Dispatch reported that their daughter Ra-el also respected the couple's decision to divorce.
Hong Jin-kyung debuted as a supermodel in 1993 and is also known as a kimchi entrepreneur beyond being a variety show star. She currently runs a YouTube channel named 'Study King Genius Hong Jin-kyung'.
