Actress Shin Ae-ra congratulated her husband Cha In-pyo on winning the Hwang Sun-won Literary Award for New Writers.
On the 4th, Shin Ae-ra posted on her Instagram account, “He disappears every day with his bag saying he’s writing, and comes back at 5 PM saying he’s hungry, and now he has received this overwhelming award.”
Shin Ae-ra shared a screenshot of an article announcing that Cha In-pyo was receiving the 14th Hwang Sun-won Literary Award for New Writers, expressing her joy. She also shared a photo of Cha In-pyo with his bag.
In particular, Shin Ae-ra expressed her affection for her husband, saying, “I received the Best New Actor award just before turning thirty, and now I’m receiving the New Writer award just before turning sixty. I guess I shouldn’t give up on my dreams, because you never know when they will come true.”
Upon seeing this, broadcaster Hong Hyun-hee commented, “Congratulations, brother-in-law! Let’s have a crab party. Sister, I’ll set it up for you,” sending her congratulations. Jang Young-ran also said, “Oh my, brother-in-law, I respect you so much. You’re really amazing. Congratulations!”
Actress Park Si-eun commented, “Oh~ Congratulations, oppa!” and Yoon Se-ah also left a comment saying, “That’s amazing! Congratulations~”

Cha In-pyo has written works such as ‘Goodbye Hill’, ‘Mermaid Hunting’, and ‘Their Day’. The revised and reprinted version of ‘Goodbye Hill’, titled ‘If We Look at the Same Star Someday’, deals with the comfort women issue and was selected as a required reading at Oxford University last year.
On the same day, Cha In-pyo expressed his thoughts on social media, saying, “I take this award not as a compliment for having ‘written well’, but as encouragement to ‘write well from now on’ and will strive to do so. I published my first novel at 42 and received the New Writer award at 58. Life feels like a long novel where you only know the ending after reading it to the end.”
He added, “I deeply thank the judges and all the readers. I will return with a new novel as soon as possible and repay the support you have given me. Thank you.”
