The prosecution has sought a 2-year prison sentence for the defendant who has been continuously committing cyber harassment against actress Shin Se-kyung for several years.

On the 26th, Shin Se-kyung's agency, The Present Company, announced this news through an official statement.

The agency stated, "The prosecution has sought a 2-year prison sentence for the defendant charged with continuous cyber harassment against actress Shin Se-kyung," adding, "The defendant has repeatedly threatened, maliciously defamed, spread false information, and engaged in insulting behavior towards not only the actress but also her fans, family, and acquaintances through online platforms anonymously over a long period. As a result, not only the actress but also those around her have suffered serious emotional harm, and the defendant is currently facing the first trial after being arrested by the police. This is an unusual measure for a case of malicious comments."

Furthermore, "We have secured numerous additional pieces of evidence related to malicious posts and harassers, and we plan to respond to similar cases with the same standards in the future," it reported.

During the trial, the defendant's legal representative pleaded for leniency, stating, "The defendant, who has been living in seclusion, hopes to return to society and is currently working part-time for 14 hours a week." It is also reported that the defendant stated, "I acknowledge all the charges."

The agency emphasized, "We prioritize the legal rights and interests of our artists and employees, and we will not consider any leniency for the perpetrator."

Additionally, "In the event of similar actions occurring in the future, we will respond firmly and decisively using all legal means," it added, stating, "To prevent innocent individuals from suffering due to someone’s distorted desires, the perpetrator must take responsibility commensurate with their actions, regardless of how long it takes, under the principles of law and justice."
