TV Chosun explained that the cancellation of 'Modern Figures' is not related to the controversy surrounding Lee Kyung-kyu.
On the 25th, a TV Chosun representative stated, "The reason for the cancellation of the entertainment program 'Modern Figures: Mr. Lee' (hereafter 'Modern Figures') on the 29th is due to a scheduling change starting in July."
They continued, "From July 1st, the schedule will change, moving the broadcast time from every Sunday to Tuesday at 10 PM. 'Dad and Me' will end its broadcast on the 24th, making way for this change."
'Modern Figures' is an honest talk show where experts from various fields share unheard stories about figures who have made significant impacts in modern history. Lee Kyung-kyu serves as the MC.
Recently, as Lee Kyung-kyu was investigated by the police for allegedly driving under the influence of medication (a violation of the Road Traffic Act), the decision to cancel 'Modern Figures' drew attention.
In response, TV Chosun emphasized, "The controversy surrounding MC Lee Kyung-kyu is completely unrelated, and the show will proceed without any changes to the cast."
On the 24th, the Gangnam Police in Seoul summoned Lee Kyung-kyu for questioning regarding the violation of the Road Traffic Act. After the investigation, Lee Kyung-kyu stated, "I did not realize that I should not drive while taking medication for panic disorder," and added, "The forensic examination showed no traces of drugs, only the medication I usually take."
Lee Kyung-kyu is accused of driving after taking medication on the 8th in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam. At that time, he was reported for suspected theft while driving a vehicle of the same model, but it was confirmed to be a mistake by the parking management staff.
Both the police's preliminary drug test and the forensic examination returned positive results, leading to him being classified as a suspect. The police plan to make a decision based on Lee Kyung-kyu's statements.
