Hyundai Motor's short film achieved the remarkable feat of winning the Grand Prix at the Cannes International Advertising Festival.

On the 17th (local time), 'Night Fishing' won the Grand Prix, the highest award in the entertainment category, at the prestigious Cannes International Advertising Festival 'Cannes Lions 2025'. Additionally, it achieved a total of four awards, including two Gold Lions and one Silver Lion.

Co-produced by Hyundai Motor and advertising agency Innocean, 'Night Fishing' is a short film that features a mysterious incident and a twist story set against the backdrop of an electric vehicle charging station. Directed by Moon Byung-gon, the first Korean to win the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2013, the film stars Son Seok-koo, who also co-produced it. It received praise for its creative direction using the perspective of a car camera.

Despite being a vehicle advertisement, the bold storytelling does not directly feature the vehicle, and the film, with a runtime of 13 minutes, was exceptionally screened in theaters, creating a new genre of film called 'snack movie'.

Director Moon Byung-gon expressed, "I am very happy and honored to receive the Grand Prix, the highest honor at the world's most prestigious Cannes International Advertising Festival," and added, "I would like to thank everyone, including Hyundai Motor and Innocean, for their support and hard work in this unfamiliar but new challenge."

'Night Fishing' has recorded 13 awards at major international advertising festivals in the first half of this year, including the Grand Prize at the 'Clio Awards', the Grand Prix at 'Spikes Asia', and a Gold Award at 'Adfest', among five main awards.
