CEO Lee Kwang-soo and Nutritionist Do Kyung-soo are opening a cafeteria.
tvN’s ‘Where Beans are Planted, Beans Grow; Where Rice is Eaten, Energy Comes from Rice’ (directed by Na Young-seok, Ha Mu-seong, Lee Young-kyung) (hereafter ‘Kong Kong Bap Bap’) is gaining attention as a spin-off of the show that provided harmless laughter to viewers, ‘Where Beans are Planted, Beans Grow; Where Red Beans are Planted, Red Beans Grow.’ This time, it will capture the cafeteria operation of close friends Lee Kwang-soo and Do Kyung-soo, rather than farming.
First, the poster for ‘Kong Kong Bap Bap’ features Lee Kwang-soo and Do Kyung-soo of KKPP Food, who will present delicious lunches and dinners to the staff of production company Egg is Coming over three days, with their bright smiles catching the eye. The two will not only name the menu items but also directly handle menu composition and cooking.
CEO Lee Kwang-soo will support public relations and cooking, while main chef and nutritionist Do Kyung-soo will showcase his reliable cooking skills to ensure both taste and nutrition. In particular, Do Kyung-soo, who has a background as a cook, is expected to reveal his expertise in large-scale cooking, which has never been seen in Na Young-seok's variety shows, adding to the intrigue.
Additionally, a pile of potatoes catches the eye. They had previously brought potatoes directly to Cha Seung-won and Yoo Hae-jin in ‘Three Meals a Day: Light.’ It raises curiosity about what potato dishes they will create to satisfy the employees' taste preferences.
The released first teaser video offers a glimpse of the activities of Lee Kwang-soo and Do Kyung-soo, who will be in charge of the cafeteria. Lee Kwang-soo kindly encourages staff to use the cafeteria over the phone to ensure they don’t skip meals, but when a younger PD mentions something, he quickly switches his tone to “Come quickly and eat” and shows off his variety show skills.
As much as the food is filled with care, the chemistry between CEO Lee Kwang-soo and Nutritionist Do Kyung-soo, who bicker, also raises expectations. When Do Kyung-soo discovers a messy sink while cooking, he expresses his anger by saying, “Clean it up! Clean it up!” and during a conversation, he suddenly yells, “You do it! That’s your job!” which flusters Lee Kwang-soo.
Moreover, there are moments where Lee Kwang-soo, looking frustrated, leans in and says to Do Kyung-soo, “Can’t you hear me?” and playfully grabs him by the collar, adding to the fun. Even while bickering, they are seen caring for and relying on each other, making the delicious stories that will be featured in ‘Kong Kong Bap Bap’ even more intriguing.
tvN’s ‘Where Beans are Planted, Beans Grow; Where Rice is Eaten, Energy Comes from Rice’ will premiere on Thursday, January 9, next year, at 8:40 PM, with the full version released on YouTube’s ‘Channel 15’ on Friday, January 10, at 6 PM.
