RM, a member of the group BTS, confessed that he suffered from insomnia due to incidents related to his agency, HYBE, during his military service.
On the 10th, RM held a live broadcast to commemorate his discharge from the Army's 15th Infantry Division Military Band.
On this day, RM confessed about his insomnia during military service, saying, “Military life was very burdensome. It was tough not only because of military life itself but also because of sleep. It was the first time I had trouble sleeping.”
In particular, RM revealed, “Around April and May of last year, there were many issues with my agency (HYBE). That’s when I developed insomnia. There were times I couldn’t sleep for even a minute for 78 hours. There were too many things happening outside.”
RM said, “I had to do (military) duties, but I couldn’t sleep, so it was unbearable,” and added, “I received help from sleeping pills and went to a psychiatric clinic during my leave. However, while taking the medication, I experienced side effects, so I couldn’t live properly.” RM, who has not yet been able to stop taking sleeping pills, confessed, “I’ve been taking them for about a year and two months, and I think I’ve improved. But even now, I’m afraid to sleep.”
The April RM mentioned last year was when the conflict between HYBE and former Ador CEO Min Hee-jin came to light. At that time, HYBE raised suspicions of embezzlement against Min Hee-jin and initiated an audit, followed by a police report for breach of trust. In response, former CEO Min Hee-jin refuted that it was impossible to seize management rights due to the share structure and denied any actions that would harm the company's value.
In the meantime, allegations arose that BTS, under HYBE's label Big Hit Music, was associated with a meditation group classified as a cult, as well as controversies over marketing practices from seven years ago. In response, Big Hit Music stated in May last year, “We clearly state that the rumors of malicious marketing, concept theft, associations with Danworld, and cult allegations aimed at defaming BTS are not true,” and announced a strong response to the malicious rumors.
Meanwhile, BTS, to which RM belongs, saw Jimin and Jungkook discharge today (11th), meaning that six out of the seven members have completed their military service. Suga, who is currently serving, is set to be discharged on the 21st, raising expectations for BTS's full group activities.
