The group Aespa has taken action against their trolls.
On the 5th, their agency SM Entertainment stated, "We would like to inform you about the progress of legal actions regarding malicious posts, comments, rumors, deepfakes, photo/video manipulation, and defamation, insults, and sexual harassment related to our artist Aespa."
They continued, "We have been collecting evidence of malicious posts and comments about Aespa through reports from fans and our own monitoring, and based on this, we have filed complaints for charges of insult, defamation, and distribution of false edited videos. Many of the defendants have been identified, and investigations are ongoing, with some cases resulting in final guilty verdicts of 3 years in prison/suspended sentence of 5 years, and fines."
The agency also stated, "We have collected a significant amount of evidence regarding acts such as posting false information, defamation, sexual harassment, insults, and mockery against Aespa on personal SNS accounts and various online communities, as well as distributing videos and images containing fake news and rumors, and we are preparing legal action." They added, "We urge you not to be directly or indirectly involved in such illegal activities."
Aespa will release their new single 'Dirty Work' on various music sites at 1 PM on the 27th.
