Park Ji-young, the Large Event Director, revealed the process of inviting Jo Yong-pil.
On the afternoon of the 30th, a mini press conference for the KBS grand project 'Jo Yong-pil, Forever This Moment' was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul. Han Kyung-cheon, KBS Entertainment Center Director, YPC Music Director Jang Ho-seo, and Park Ji-young, Large Event Director, attended.
Park Ji-young stated, "The KBS Large Event Team is the department preparing for grand projects," and added, "After being appointed last December, everyone, including the current president, desperately wanted Jo Yong-pil, so we researched how to reach him. YPC is a company shrouded in mystery. There are only two employees. There is no official management, and Mr. Jo does not officially expose himself. So, after months of inquiries on how to make contact, it felt like following a ray of light. Through the process of searching for something in the dark, we were able to meet with YPC."
She continued, "At the end of February, I received a map saying 'where to go,' and contact was made in March. Mr. Jo said he would decide after his national tour ended in April last year, so it was a continuous wait filled with anxiety. I believe it was made possible thanks to the brand value that KBS has built up and the trust and know-how that we would produce a good broadcast."
She added, "Mr. Jo likes musical completeness and challenges. We proposed to him how it would be to collaborate with the KBS Symphony Orchestra, and how it would be to perform at Gocheok Sky Dome, which he had not performed at before. It was a tough assignment for us, but we suggested that it might be good to work together with a common goal. He responded positively. I think our desire to gift music in this meaningful year of the 80th anniversary of liberation matched well."
'Jo Yong-pil, Forever This Moment' is a solo stage presented by the legend Jo Yong-pil, who spans all generations in South Korea, after 28 years since his last solo performance on KBS's 'Big Show' in 1997. The concert held on September 6 was sold out in just three minutes, receiving a hot response.
'Jo Yong-pil, Forever This Moment' will be broadcast as a three-part special during the Chuseok holiday. On October 3 at 10 PM, 'Jo Yong-pil, Forever This Moment - Prequel' will air, followed by the main performance 'Jo Yong-pil, Forever This Moment' on October 6 at 7:20 PM, and the concert behind-the-scenes documentary 'Jo Yong-pil, Forever This Moment - Records of That Day' on October 8 at 7:20 PM.
