Actress Goo Hye-sun (40) has developed a 'hair roll' and even registered a patent for it.

On the 19th, Goo Hye-sun posted on her SNS, "Today is the day of invention. I went for an interview about my hair roll invention at the Korea Invention Promotion Association," along with several photos.

In the released photos, Goo Hye-sun is seen posing with a hat at the Korea Invention Promotion Association. She also included the patent certificate for the hair roll product she developed, as well as a usage video. According to the patent certificate, she applied for the product with the institution in July 2020, and the formal registration was completed in December 2021.

The feature of this hair roll is that, unlike the existing round-shaped hair rolls, it has a rectangular flat shape that can be bent to fit the desired size.

Goo Hye-sun announced on the 29th of last month that her hair roll is set to be released soon. Currently, she is pursuing a master's degree in engineering at the KAIST Graduate School of Science Journalism and is known to have developed the hair roll in collaboration with Professor Lee Hae-shin, a distinguished professor in the Department of Chemistry at KAIST.

Goo Hye-sun previously revealed on the recently aired MBC entertainment program 'Radio Star' that she registered the patent for the 'expandable hair roll' to meet the graduation requirements of Sungkyunkwan University.

Goo Hye-sun explained, "I thought, looking at students' hair rolls, 'Why do they always have that shape? Isn't it inconvenient to carry around?' That's why I created the expandable hair roll. If you carry multiple hair rolls, it takes up a lot of space, right? This can be easily tucked into a card wallet or anywhere else."

Meanwhile, Goo Hye-sun graduated at the top of her class from the Department of Film Studies at Sungkyunkwan University in February last year and was accepted into the KAIST Graduate School of Science Journalism's master's program in June of the same year. She is currently known to be serving as the deputy representative of her department.

Goo Hye-sun debuted in 2002 through an advertisement for a computer company and gained public recognition through the MBC sitcom 'Nonstop 5'. She then rose to great popularity in 2009 by playing the lead role of 'Geum Jan-di' in the drama 'Boys Over Flowers'.

Currently, Goo Hye-sun is engaged in various artistic activities such as screenwriting, film directing, and painting, rather than acting.

She married model-turned-actor Ahn Jae-hyun in 2016 but divorced in 2020.
