
The world's first global taekwondo audition entertainment program, 'The Great Show: Taekwondo', will premiere on June 27.
Taekwondo is the national sport of South Korea and a global sport with 200 million practitioners worldwide. Taekwondo demonstration performances have proven to be a global sensation in overseas mega audition programs.
With a total prize of 100 million won, MBN's 'The Great Show: Taekwondo' depicts the process of finding new taekwondo stars.
Broadcaster Jang Seong-kyu will serve as the main MC, while singer Na Tae-joo, a former national taekwondo representative, will join as the sub MC.
The judging panel includes renowned director Park Kal-rin from the performance directing field, K-POP choreographer Choi Young-jun, actress Lee Yu-ri, a certified 1st dan taekwondo black belt, and Professor Kwak Taek-yong, head of the Taekwondo Sports Instruction Department at Yongin University, who will conduct professional and multifaceted evaluations to discover new taekwondo stars.
Audition participants include national representatives, black belts, demonstration teams, and martial artists from various fields such as dance and parkour, as well as foreign applicants, all of whom have passed through fierce preliminary rounds to reach the main stage, where they will advance to the final round through various missions.
By integrating the dynamism of taekwondo with various artistic genres, the show is expected to provide fresh emotions and spectacles that have never been seen before. The growth process and touching stories of participants from both domestic and international backgrounds will also be revealed as they create works through taekwondo.
The final winner will receive a prize of 100 million won and a special opportunity to become the main character in a global taekwondo show stage currently in production.
