Singer Kim Yong-bin (32) confessed that he experienced a slump due to panic disorder in the past.
On the 10th, the JTBC show ‘Knowing Bros’ featured the TOP7 of ‘Mr. Trot 3’: Kim Yong-bin, Son Bin-ah, Cheon Rok-dam, Chun Gil, Choi Jae-myung, and Choo Hyuk-jin as guests.
In particular, Kim Yong-bin, who won the title of ‘Jin’ in ‘Mr. Trot 3’, stated, “I have been active the longest since debuting here,” revealing that he has been working as a first-generation trot prodigy.
He explained, “I lived with my grandmother when I was young, and she loved trot music so much that I was exposed to it before I even learned Hangul,” sharing the background of how he got into trot music.
When asked, “Did you perform at events when you were young?” he surprised everyone by saying, “At my busiest, I did 12 events in one day.” He added, “My hometown is Daegu, and after going around various districts in Daegu, I also went to Gumi City.”
However, he had to stop his activities due to health reasons. He revealed, “During a very busy time, I developed panic disorder,” and “Having been active since childhood, I went through a voice change and experienced a slump. After going through such a tough time, I decided to challenge myself in ‘Mr. Trot 3’.”
He humbly stated, “For me, the break was meaningful. During that difficult time, I developed ‘Han’, and I think that ‘Han’ was reflected in my singing, which led me to become ‘Jin’ in Mr. Trot 3.”
Hearing this, Cheon Rok-dam (Lee Jeong) said, “Yong-bin’s grandmother wished for him to participate in Mr. Trot. Unfortunately, she couldn’t see it in person. She passed away last June,” and Kim Yong-bin shared, “After the live broadcast, I went straight to visit my grandmother’s grave. I was in tears,” evoking sympathy.
Kim Yong-bin debuted as a trot prodigy at the age of 13 in 2004. Now in his 22nd year as an active artist, he won the title of ‘Jin’ in ‘Mr. Trot 3’.
