Song Baek-kyung, a former member of 'One Time', revealed his recent life after leaving the entertainment industry to become a voice actor and self-employed.
On the 15th, he appeared on KBS 2TV's 'Salim Nam' (hereafter 'Salim Nam') and shared his pleasant updates.
Song Baek-kyung's two sons are 9 and 8 years old. He said, "I got married in 2016 and my first child was born in 2017. I have been running around since I got married," and added, "Since I don't have anything to show as I am not living as a celebrity, I politely declined casting offers. I also told my two sons, 'I was once a singer and a celebrity, but don't mention it first.'"
However, the two sons have already told people around them that their dad was in One Time, and they take pride in their father, which brought warmth to the conversation.
Song Baek-kyung mentioned, "I worked as an exclusive voice actor at KBS for two years," and explained, "My first child was conceived during our honeymoon. The first child is from One Time, and the second is also from One Time. Suddenly becoming a father, husband, and head of the household, I thought about where I could earn a stable income while utilizing my abilities. After searching, I thought it would be good to become a voice actor at a broadcasting station. I quit my night classes and started studying voice acting."
He continued, "As the kids are learning Hangul, they search for Song Baek-kyung. Then they see videos of me flying around on stage from back in the day and ask why I'm not on TV now. I had no words. With this opportunity to appear on 'Salim Nam', I wanted to show that even though I'm not a singer now, I'm living hard in another way."
After finishing voice recording at the broadcasting station, Song Baek-kyung headed to the Japanese-style pub he runs with his mother, working hard as a self-employed individual.
Song Baek-kyung's mother said, "Baek-kyung's father passed away when he was 14. I was a housewife, but I had to take care of the kids. The only job I could do right away to earn money was working in the food service industry. Having worked in restaurants for 30 years, I'm quick with my hands," and Song Baek-kyung expressed his regret, saying, "My mother is working the hardest at the restaurant."
Song Baek-kyung debuted in 1998 as a member of the hip-hop group One Time. The group ceased activities in 2006, and he participated in the project group Mugadang, retiring after 2007.
