Famous Japanese actress Ryoko Hirosue (44) has revealed that she has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and hypothyroidism.
On the 2nd, Hirosue's agency announced on their official website, "After being released from custody on April 16, Ryoko Hirosue was hospitalized and diagnosed with bipolar disorder and hypothyroidism. She is currently continuing treatment under a doctor's care."
They continued, "Both Hirosue and the agency deeply reflect on having dismissed her suffering as merely 'poor condition.' For the time being, Hirosue will suspend all activities and focus on her mental and physical recovery."
The agency added, "There is absolutely no intention to evade responsibility by attributing this incident to illness, and we will continue to respond sincerely to the police investigation. We ask that excessive speculation about her illness be avoided."
On the 8th of last month, Ryoko Hirosue was involved in a collision while driving on the highway and was transported to the hospital. However, while waiting for treatment at the hospital, she was arrested on the spot by the police for allegedly assaulting a nurse by kicking her, but was later released.
Ryoko Hirosue is a former idol actress from the 1990s, known for her roles in films such as 'Railway Man,' 'Secret,' and 'Hana and Alice.' She is the original 'national sister' of Japan, having popularized the short hairstyle with her pure charm.
In 2003, she married model and fashion designer Takahiro Okazawa, and gave birth to her first child the following year, but they divorced in 2008.
