It is the time of actor Choo Young-woo. Having risen to prominence through "Ok-ssi's Story," he will continue his busy schedule in 2025 with "Man-Chit-Nam."
Since his debut in the 2021 web drama "You Make Me Dance," Choo Young-woo has built a solid filmography with appearances in "Police Class," "School 2021," "Opening - Babel Syndrome," "Accidentally on Purpose," and "Oasis," gaining immense popularity with the JTBC drama "Ok-ssi's Story."
In his first historical drama, "Ok-ssi's Story," Choo Young-woo portrayed Cheon Seung-hwi, a versatile entertainer of the Joseon era, who is willing to risk his life for his loved one, showcasing a pure and devoted love. He also successfully took on the dual role of Seong Yoon-gyeom, the eldest son of a noble family, who possesses exceptional martial arts skills and charisma, solidifying his status as a rising star.
As "Im Ji-yeon's man," he showcased his multifaceted charm and, thanks to the drama's popularity, he ranked second in the big data analysis results released by the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute in January 2025, following Lee Jung-jae, who took the first place.
His parents also became a topic of discussion. It was revealed that Choo Young-woo's father is top model Choo Seung-il from the 1990s, and his mother is fashion model Kang Seong-jin. His younger brother, Cha Jeong-woo (stage name), recently appeared alongside him in "Ok-ssi's Story."
The "hot" activities of Choo Young-woo are set to continue in 2025. After shedding his hanbok, he will meet viewers through the Netflix series "Severe Trauma Center" and "Gwangjang," as well as the tvN drama "Gyeonwoo and the Fairy." This year, he will transform into "Man-Chit-Nam" to solidify his rising star status.

First, in the webtoon adaptation "Severe Trauma Center," which was unveiled on the 24th, Choo Young-woo plays Yang Jae-won, the first disciple of Baek Kang-hyuk, and an elite fellow.
Filmed before "Ok-ssi's Story," "Severe Trauma Center" tells the thrilling story of genius surgeon Baek Kang-hyuk (played by Ju Ji-hoon) who is assigned to revive a virtually non-existent severe trauma team. Wearing a doctor's gown, Choo Young-woo successfully portrays his character's growth as he struggles to save critically ill patients alongside Baek Kang-hyuk, earning positive reviews.
Choo Young-woo's activities do not end here. He will once again become "Man-Chit-Nam" in the webtoon adaptation "Gwangjang."
"Gwangjang" is a noir action drama where Ki-jun (played by So Ji-sub), who cut off his Achilles' heel and left the organization, returns after 11 years to uncover the secrets surrounding the death of his younger brother Gi-seok (played by Lee Joon-hyuk) and seek revenge. Choo Young-woo plays Geum-son, the son of the organization leader Joo-woon (played by Heo Jun-ho) and a prosecutor. Although he is a current prosecutor distancing himself from the organization, he will play a character that adds tension to the plot with his aimless ambition.
There is another upcoming project. It is the fantasy romance drama "Gyeonwoo and the Fairy," based on the webtoon of the same name, where a high school girl shaman tries to save her first love. Choo Young-woo will play the protagonist Gyeonwoo, aiming to capture the hearts of viewers with a fresh first love romance.
It is already exciting to see if Choo Young-woo can continue his time as "Man-Chit-Nam" and what other activities he will showcase.
Choo Young-woo, who will continue to shine on the small screen in 2025, shared his unique determination along with New Year greetings with Maeil Business Star Today.
