Actor Yoo Jun-sang made a mistake while announcing the award, bringing laughter to the audience.
The 9th Korea Musical Awards took place on the evening of the 13th at the Universal Art Center in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. Musical actor Lee Gun-myung, who has been with the awards since the first edition, served as the MC, and The M.C Orchestra joined again this year.
Yoo Jun-sang took the stage as a presenter for the Best New Actor award alongside Cha Ji-yeon. Lee Gun-myung made a mistake by saying it was a "meaningless moment," to which Yoo Jun-sang responded, "What meaning does the award have? It has no meaning. In the meantime, I hope the actors find meaning and take a step forward. Thank you, Lee Gun-myung, for your precious words," eliciting laughter.
The nominees for the Best New Actor award included Kim Min-seok (Hadestown), Son Woo-hyun (A Gentleman's Guide: To Love and Murder), Shin Eun-ho (Rimbaud), Lim Ji-seop (Dear Evan Hansen), and Lim Tae-hyun (Etc.). The nominees for the Best New Actress award were Park Soo-bin (The Great Comet), Solji (Hero), Yeom Hee-jin (Dear Evan Hansen), Jeon Ha-young (The Last Five Years), and Jodiana (Bear the Musical).
Instead of announcing the Best New Actor, Yoo Jun-sang mistakenly called out the name of the Best New Actress winner, Jeon Ha-young, and explained, "I just read it as it was." Lee Gun-myung commented, "All memories from 15 seconds ago disappear," and Yoo Jun-sang added, "This is truly a remarkable moment. The seeds that Lee Gun-myung has sown have grown so much. I am very excited to see what moments will develop in the future," before announcing the Best New Actor, Kim Min-seok.
After the Best New Actor award was concluded, MC Lee Gun-myung expressed gratitude to actor Yoo Jun-sang for creating a thrilling awards ceremony.
The 9th Korea Musical Awards is hosted by the Korea Musical Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Council. The awards analyze and evaluate the trends in the musical market over the past year, selecting winners through fair voting by a panel of experts and audience votes.
