Fitness trainer Yang Chi-seung confessed to being a victim of fraud.
In the episode of KBS Joy's ‘Ask Anything’ aired on the 9th, Yang Chi-seung appeared as a story contributor, stating that he has been scammed many times because he tends to trust people easily.
On that day, Yang Chi-seung said, "Around 2012, a decent friend came to the gym. He was a member but was a former celebrity who was famous in the past. I trusted him and worked with him, and he was doing really well. He was tall, handsome, and kind to people. Thanks to him, the gym was doing well, and we expanded the branches."
He continued, "I entrusted him with managing the store, but strangely, the sales started to drop. It was doing well when we opened, but over time, the sales plummeted. It turned out that he was using double bookkeeping to hide sales and embezzle money. He even pretended to be the manager, so the trainers didn't listen to me at all."
When asked about the amount of damage, Yang Chi-seung replied, "All branches except the main one have closed down. In terms of money, it's over a hundred million won. I want to take legal action, but it's ambiguous. Since then, I haven't opened any branches and am only running one gym now," he sighed.
Additionally, Yang Chi-seung mentioned another fraud case. He said, "At the end of 2018, while looking for a new location for the gym, a close younger brother introduced me to a place that had been a supermarket for 15 years. It was a good location on the first floor of a main road. The landlord was nice, saying he was a fan of mine. We signed the contract, but it turned out to be a building that I had to vacate in four years."
Yang Chi-seung reported a loss of 400 million won and had to vacate after about three years. He stated, "The landowner is the district office, so it's not easy to fight. Both sides have notification obligations, so we are still in trial. The landlord received my deposit and rent but hasn't returned the money, yet he was acquitted," expressing his frustration.
Hearing this, Seo Jang-hoon said, "It's unfortunate that it's already been 2-3 years since that incident happened. If the district office had taken action and given time during the trial, it would have been better. That's disappointing because the time spent is similar in the end." Lee Soo-geun also added, "Isn't it the district office's job to help hardworking people and pay attention to welfare?"
