Choi Min-hwan of the group FT Island has reportedly admitted to visiting entertainment establishments.
According to Sports Kyunghyang on the 20th, Choi Min-hwan recently confessed during a police investigation that he "has often gone to entertainment establishments."
According to reports, Choi Min-hwan stated during the questioning, "I have often gone to entertainment establishments after consulting with Mr. A, but I have never engaged in prostitution and I can't even remember if I actually went to the mentioned entertainment establishments." Mr. A reportedly stated, "The conversation was about going to entertainment establishments, not about visiting a prostitution establishment."
The police concluded that they could not acknowledge the prostitution allegations based solely on the recordings of Choi Min-hwan and Mr. A. Yulhee reportedly refused to appear before the police, stating that she did not want Choi Min-hwan to face criminal charges or an investigation due to concerns about their child's emotional well-being, and she did not submit the original recording files.
Previously, Choi Min-hwan married Yulhee, a former member of the girl group Laboum, in 2018, but they faced divorce after five years. Yulhee later learned that Choi Min-hwan was visiting entertainment establishments during their marriage and claimed that she tried to overcome this for a year but was ultimately served with divorce papers.
Yulhee also revealed recordings that raised suspicions about Choi Min-hwan's involvement in prostitution. In the recordings, Choi Min-hwan was heard asking for "a girl" and saying, "Is there a hotel nearby? A motel is fine," which caused a stir.
The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul decided not to pursue the case regarding Choi Min-hwan's allegations of violating the Prostitution Punishment Act and sexual assault, concluding that there was insufficient evidence to prove the criminal allegations.
On the 18th, Choi Min-hwan posted on the fan communication platform Weverse, "I have never engaged in prostitution, and there is insufficient evidence, so I am not guilty. How can I prove something I didn't do?"
He also stated, "It would be great if there was clear evidence, but there isn't, and I'm sorry. I had no way to explain or excuse myself. I just want you to know that it's really not true. And I have no intention of hiding or running away. I'm really sorry," but the post has since been deleted.
