Lee Chae-yeon, a former member of the group IZ*ONE, has expressed her beliefs amid the impeachment crisis.
On the 7th, Lee Chae-yeon wrote on a fan communication platform, "Am I not in a position to talk about politics?" and added, "As a citizen, I will handle it myself. I will also mention it myself because I'm a celebrity, and that's why I can speak out."
She continued, "I know very well that people worry about idols saying things like this, but I am also a citizen," and reassured her fans, "Thank you for your concern. Let's live in a better world. In such a world, let's love freely."
Earlier that day, a motion for impeachment against President Yoon Suk-yeol was put to a vote in the National Assembly, but it was discarded due to a lack of quorum. The impeachment motion requires the approval of two-thirds of the total members (300), which means 200 votes are needed to pass. However, only 195 members participated in the vote, and it was declared 'vote invalid' without even counting the ballots.
