The group NewJeans announced that they will terminate their exclusive contract with their agency Ador from 0:00 on the 29th.
On the 28th, NewJeans held an emergency press conference regarding the termination of their exclusive contract at a location in Gangnam, Seoul.
On that day, the members of NewJeans stated, "We would like to inform you that as of midnight on the 29th, NewJeans and Ador will terminate the contract," adding, "The reason we are leaving Ador is very simple. NewJeans is an artist under Ador, and Ador has the obligation to protect NewJeans. However, Ador lacks both the will and the ability to protect NewJeans."
They continued, "Therefore, we think it is a waste of time to stay here, and there is mental suffering. Since we cannot gain anything professionally, we believe there is no reason to remain here," declaring their separation from Ador.
They emphasized, "We are terminating the contract because Ador and HYBE violated the contract," stating, "We have communicated sufficiently and sent a notice, but there was no response during that period, so we are proceeding with the termination as stated in the notice."
The members of NewJeans sent a notice to Ador on the 13th, demanding explanations and actions regarding the official apology from the manager who told Hani to 'ignore it,' the return of former CEO Min, and the inclusion of the phrase 'It would be fine to abandon New (NewJeans) and create a new plan' in a recently released internal HYBE document. They stated, "We demand that all serious violations of the exclusive contract be corrected within 14 days from the date of receiving this letter."
On the 27th, a day before the response deadline, Ador stated, "This statement is a measure taken in accordance with the artist's notice," addressing the revelation made by Hani during a YouTube live broadcast in September that a manager from Belift Lab told her to 'ignore it.'
Ador expressed, "Ador and its members fully trust the words of our artist and sincerely regret the harm caused to Hani," adding, "We hope that Belift Lab will not take Hani's suffering lightly and show mutual respect, and we hope to demonstrate a sincere attitude to prevent unnecessary controversies regarding our artists."
