Actor Kim Ji-hoon confessed to the extreme psychological and physical pain he experienced during his approximately three-year hiatus.
On the 6th, a video titled ‘Younger Actor Kim Ji-hoon Visits Kim Jung-nan’s House’ was posted on Kim Jung-nan's YouTube channel. In the video, Kim Ji-hoon shared a meal with Kim Jung-nan, whom he hadn't seen in a long time, and opened up about his difficult past.
Kim Ji-hoon stated, “I had such a strong image from weekend dramas that no one wanted to cast me in movies or other genres,” and added, “I have been on a break for about three years.”
He mentioned, “The company kept talking about possibilities, but in the end, I faced repeated disappointments,” and shared, “I waited a long time for one drama, only to see in the news that another actor was cast, which was the last straw.”
During that time, he ran out of money, and above all, he said, “The biggest stress was not knowing when or what would happen.” He continued, “I had such severe headaches that even the slightest touch on my hair was painful. I wondered if I had developed cancer,” revealing how his mental pain manifested physically.
Kim Jung-nan empathized, saying, “The saying that the mind governs the body is spot on,” and Kim Ji-hoon shared, “I tried to spend my hiatus constructively by reading books, watching movies, and exercising, but at some point, I couldn’t even read the words and became unable to do anything.”
He confessed, “In the end, gaming became my only escape. I completed all levels in a year. Thanks to the addiction, I could momentarily escape from the world,” adding, “Gaming acted like my antidepressant.”
When Kim Jung-nan asked, “Isn’t dating also difficult during such times?” Kim Ji-hoon replied, “I did date,” which brought laughter. Kim Jung-nan reassured him, saying, “You did everything you could. Looking back, it seems like you followed a very normal course,” and Kim Ji-hoon nodded, saying, “Now that I look back, I realize it was a necessary time for me.”
Meanwhile, Kim Ji-hoon is hinting at a comeback with various content and is preparing for his full-fledged activities.
