Annie (real name Moon Seo-yoon), the daughter of Jeong Yoo-kyung, the CEO of Shinsegae Department Store, is set to debut as a member of a mixed group. With her unique background as the eldest daughter of the Shinsegae Group and the granddaughter of a chaebol family, the reason she chose to pursue her dream of becoming a singer and how she convinced her family is drawing attention.
Annie revealed her debut story for the first time in the 'DAY 1' video released on the All Day Project's official YouTube channel on the 13th.
She stated that she was shocked after watching the music video for 2NE1 and Big Bang's 'Lollipop' during her childhood, and from that moment, she dreamed of becoming a celebrity.
"It was so shocking. It felt like a new world was opening up. I wanted to do what they were doing," Annie said, recalling how she expressed her desire to become a singer to her parents, but was met with firm opposition.
In particular, her mother Jeong Yoo-kyung firmly rejected Annie's dream, saying, "That's nonsense." Annie candidly shared her feelings at that time, stating, "That was my first heartbreak in life." Even after becoming a high school student, the family's opposition grew stronger, and eventually, Jeong offered the condition, "If you get into college, I will help you."
Annie confessed that from that point on, she "gave up sleep" to focus on her entrance exams. "My mom said she didn't think I would actually get in. But I was really desperate. I endured each day and prepared, and in the end, I got into college," she said.
She also emphasized, "People thought I wasn't sincere about this dream, so I wanted to prove myself even more. I ran harder every day, and that's why I was really happy about this debut opportunity."
The mixed group 'All Day Project,' which Annie is a part of, consists of five members including Tarzan, Bailey, Woo-chan, and Young-seo. It is the second group presented by The Black Label, led by YG producer Teddy, and is set to officially debut on June 23.
