‘New Menu Launch Pyeon Restaurant’ Park Tae-hwan shares his family story.
On the 13th, KBS 2TV’s ‘New Menu Launch Pyeon Restaurant’ (hereinafter ‘Pyeon Restaurant’) will reveal the honest confession of the eternal Marine Boy, Park Tae-hwan.
With incredible records, Park Tae-hwan has written the history of swimming in South Korea. Behind those glorious records lies Park Tae-hwan's fierce efforts and passion, the heartfelt support of his family who have watched him closely, and his touching sincerity towards his family, which is expected to move viewers on Friday evening.

In the VCR released that day, Park Tae-hwan had a warm phone conversation with his older sister. While discussing Park Tae-hwan's recent situation, his sister said, “Haven't you lived without enjoying the ordinary things that others have experienced because you were focused on training?” She continued, “(After retirement) you seem comfortable and happy these days,” which brought Park Tae-hwan to tears.
During his nearly 30 years as an athlete, Park Tae-hwan endured training more grueling than anyone else. He started swimming at the age of 5 and shared, “I have lived a life of waking up at 4 AM and getting in the water at 5 AM for nearly 30 years. It was all about the whip without any carrots. It felt like it was just hard work.”
Nevertheless, the driving force that allowed Park Tae-hwan to endure the training was his family. He said, “In the past, my mother was battling cancer and it was tough.” Park Tae-hwan recalled, “No matter how much pain I felt, I thought that compared to the pain my mom was feeling, it was nothing, and that helped me endure.”
When asked about the happiest moment during his athletic career, Park Tae-hwan revealed, “It feels good to come in first, but more than that, it was when I was able to gift my parents a house.” The members of ‘Pyeon Restaurant’ learned how Park Tae-hwan endured tough times with a heart full of love for his family, and they praised him, saying, “A national hero is also a devoted son.” Additionally, Park Tae-hwan revealed that despite pouring everything into swimming, there were times he really wanted to quit, which surprised everyone. What could that reason be? The detailed story will be revealed on ‘Pyeon Restaurant’.
Meanwhile, in this broadcast, Park Tae-hwan will showcase a jaw-dropping eating show as well as a new menu that incorporates all cheat codes. Viewers can look forward to the sincere confession of the eternal Marine Boy Park Tae-hwan, his deep family love, and his happy life after retirement on KBS 2TV’s ‘New Menu Launch Pyeon Restaurant’ airing on June 13 at 8:30 PM.
