Ive (IVE), the 'MZ Wannabe Icon', revealed the choreography creation process for their new song 'TKO'.
On the 7th, their agency Starship Entertainment uploaded a video titled '[IVE LOG] Did you wait? Senior Fall's TKO Choreography Vlog has arrived' on Ive's official YouTube channel.
The video features member Fall creating the choreography for the track 'TKO' from their new album 'IVE EMPATHY'. The stage for 'TKO' was first unveiled at Ive's third fan concert 'IVE SCOUT' held recently at the KSPO Dome (formerly the gymnastics stadium), drawing fans' attention with the release of Fall's choreography vlog.
First, Fall began conceptualizing the choreography while listening to the 'TKO' track with dancer and choreographer Shimizu. Fall creatively suggested, "I hope we can create a ring. I want it to feel like Ray and I are facing each other in a competition," and also expressed concerns about the overall picture, saying, "I was thinking of dividing the dance break into 3-3, but I'm worried it might lack impact."
Afterward, Fall created the choreography for the pre-chorus and chorus with Shimizu, then dove into creating the choreography for the second verse alone. While reflecting on lyrics like 'Step hard' and 'Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee', Fall crafted each movement and considered the strengths of the members, stating, "Ray does the precise choreography well, so rather than inserting the choreography quickly, it would be better to include a slightly slower tempo with accurate moves," which drew admiration.
Subsequently, Fall completed the choreography by refining the details with Shimizu and filmed a demo video with the dancers. Upon watching the demo video of Fall's first choreography for 'TKO', the other Ive members couldn't hide their admiration, exclaiming, "You did so well!" and "That's cool," showering her with praise.
At the end of the video, Fall shared, "When we were planning the fan concert, I first mentioned that I wanted to perform 'TKO' from this album. I thought the fans would like it, and it would look great with the choreography, so I recommended it and expressed my desire to participate in the choreography, and the company agreed, so I got to work with Miz."
She continued, "Since 'TKO' is a term often used in boxing, I thought of something a bit more new rather than just being typical of Ive. I expressed that I wanted to present a rougher dance style rather than a soft dance line, and that's how it was structured. It was fun and I learned a lot, so if there's another opportunity like this, I would like to challenge myself again. Dive (official fan club name)! Please love 'TKO' a lot!"
Meanwhile, Ive, which includes Fall, is set to hold a fan concert tour '2025 IVE FAN CONCERT 'IVE SCOUT' IN JAPAN', starting with performances in Aichi, Japan on April 12 and 13, visiting four cities in Japan.
