Singer Son Dam-bi revealed that she had planned to live as a DINK family with her husband Lee Gyu-hyuk.
On the 16th, SBS’s ‘Take Off Your Shoes and Dolsing Po Man’ featured guests Lee Ji-hye, Son Dam-bi, and Kim Ddol-dol.
On this day, Son Dam-bi shared that she and her husband Lee Gyu-hyuk originally intended to live as a DINK family without plans for children, saying, “We got married late, and since I lived half my life alone, I thought it would be nice to live sweetly with my husband for the remaining half. So, I never thought about having kids.”
She continued, “But after a year of marriage, my husband started talking about having kids. He really wanted to have one. Since I love this person, I thought it would make me happy to have a child that looks like him.”
When Tak Jae-hoon asked about plans for a second child, Son Dam-bi replied, “I barely managed to have one, so I don’t think I can have another. I had my first at 43, and it was really tough with IVF.”
She added, “I also had placenta previa. The placenta was completely attached to my uterus, so I couldn’t have a natural birth and had to undergo general anesthesia. The risk of preterm birth was very high. It was a miracle to carry to 38 weeks. But I gave birth safely.”
Additionally, Son Dam-bi expressed her frustration when people said the baby looked just like Lee Gyu-hyuk, saying, “I think the baby looks like me, so why do they say she looks like my husband?”
Son Dam-bi recounted, “During the ultrasound, the doctor said, ‘There’s no Son Dam-bi face.’ I was so surprised and said, ‘Isn’t that a bit premature?’”
She continued, “After giving birth, don’t you go to see the baby in the nursery? When the curtain opened and I saw the baby, I was so moved that I cried. I was crying in the elevator, and my husband said, ‘Isn’t our daughter so pretty?’ and I replied, ‘She looks so much like you.’ Then my husband asked, ‘Are you crying because she looks like me?’”
In response, Lee Ji-hye said, “She looks like her dad but turned out pretty. Thank goodness. It’s truly a blessing. You should know it’s a real blessing,” which made everyone laugh.
