Singer Lim Young-woong has addressed the 'What?' controversy during his concert.
On the afternoon of the 27th, Lim Young-woong held a solo concert titled 'Lim Young-woong Recital' at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
On this day, Lim Young-woong reportedly told his fans, "I apologize for causing you worry and concern," and added, "I am a person who sings. I am a person who brings joy and comfort through my songs. I will come back with an even better and developed version of myself."
Previously, Lim Young-woong was embroiled in the 'What?' controversy ahead of his year-end concert. On the 7th, he posted a daily photo with his pet dog on his social media, saying, "Happy birthday to our October." This day coincided with the first National Assembly vote on the impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk-yeol, and nationwide candlelight vigils demanding the president's impeachment were held.
A netizen sparked controversy by revealing a DM they claimed to have exchanged with Lim Young-woong regarding this post.
In the DM, the netizen asked, "What are you doing in this situation?" in a critical tone, to which Lim Young-woong replied, "What?" The netizen then pointed out, "While the entire nation is gathered over the impeachment motion against a president who declared martial law unconstitutionally, I don't expect you to raise your voice, but this is really insensitive. Aren't the people from the previous martial law era your main audience?" Lim Young-woong responded, "Am I a politician? Why should I raise my voice?" which led to the controversy.
After maintaining silence, Lim Young-woong indirectly expressed his feelings about the 'What?' controversy in front of his fans after 21 days, drawing attention.
Starting from this day, Lim Young-woong will hold a total of six recital concerts on the 28th-29th and January 2nd-4th.
