Actress Park Tam-hee (47) confessed late about her battle with cancer and shared her feelings at the time.
On the 3rd, Park Tam-hee appeared in a video titled ‘First Reveal! A story I couldn’t tell anyone for 8 years’ released on the YouTube channel ‘Newly Revived’.
In the video, Park Tam-hee revealed that she was advised to get a health check-up by a parent who was a professor of family medicine during a parent meeting in 2017, which led to her undergoing a biopsy and subsequently receiving a cancer diagnosis.
Recalling the moment of her diagnosis, she said, “It felt like my heart was pounding and I was being sucked down underground and then coming back up. I looked at my child and didn’t even cry. I just kept thinking, ‘What should I do?’ I couldn’t believe it because there had been no cancer patients in my family and no family history.”
She continued, “I was 40 years old at that time. When death comes realistically, it feels different. It was an emotion that I couldn’t express in words,” adding, “It wasn’t that I was afraid of dying, but the fear that my children would have to grow up without their mother was overwhelming.”
The cancer, which she thought was in its early stages, turned out to be more serious than expected.
Park Tam-hee shared, “I thought it was early-stage cancer and underwent open surgery, but it had metastasized. I had to undergo major surgery and chemotherapy. Since chemotherapy causes hair loss, I couldn’t work for several years. I am someone who feels alive when acting, so it was very painful for me.”
Currently undergoing follow-up tests, she said, “I have tests every six months after chemotherapy, and after five years, I have tests once a year,” adding, “I went for a check-up last April and received another year. I cherish each day.”
Meanwhile, Park Tam-hee married businessman in 2008 and has one son and one daughter.
