Broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moo has decided to move to Gimpo for his mother.
In the episode of MBC's ‘I Live Alone’ aired on the 15th, Jeon Hyun-moo was shown starting his 'Filial Piety 5-Year Project'.
On this day, Jeon Hyun-moo revealed his plan to move to Gimpo as the first step of the 'Filial Piety 5-Year Project'. He explained, "I am contemplating whether to move to Gimpo. I've been thinking about it for the past 2-3 months. I live in Gangnam, but when I think about it, there's not much going on in Gangnam. My schedule is mostly in Sangam or Yeouido."
Jeon Hyun-moo decided to move to Gimpo, which is closer to his family home, for the safety of his mother, who often visits him at his house far away from the family home. He said, "I thought it would be hard for my mom to help clean my house, but it seems like that’s what makes her happy. I can't persuade her with words. So, I think the best filial piety is to at least be closer to the family home."
To achieve both filial piety and a nature-friendly lifestyle, Jeon Hyun-moo went to Gimpo for a site visit. He visited the house of his friend Baekga, who lives in Gimpo, and toured several houses with a real estate agent.
After finishing the site visit, Jeon Hyun-moo informed his mother about his plan to move to Gimpo. His mother showed a positive reaction but also expressed concern, saying, "I'm worried that it might be hard for you to move."
When Jeon Hyun-moo mentioned that moving to Gimpo wouldn't be beneficial for him, his mother discouraged the move. She said, "We can just go back and forth. It should be centered around you. It shouldn't be centered around us." Especially when his mother said, "You have to get married too, so you can't," Jeon Hyun-moo lamented, "If I’m in Gimpo, can’t I get married?"
Jeon Hyun-moo told his mother, "When I said it would be hard for me, I was just saying that. I hope you understand that I’m doing this for myself because I dream of such a space. But since mom and dad will also be closer, it’s a win-win situation. I hope you understand that I’m not sacrificing myself."
