Kim Tae-won's application for a U.S. visa, intended to attend his daughter's wedding, has ultimately been denied.
In the TV Chosun ultra-realistic documentary entertainment program 'Joseon's Love Fool', a scene was aired where Kim Tae-won practiced for his visa interview.
On that day, Kim Tae-won mistakenly referred to his 'New York son-in-law' Devin as 'Kevin Brown', which drew sympathy. In response, the production team visited Kim Tae-won four days before the interview and headed to the recording studio of 'Resurrection'.
Regarding last year's denial of his performance visa, fellow 'Resurrection' member Park Wan-kyu expressed regret, saying, "I heard he made a lot of mistakes last year. He brought an expired passport..." The members of 'Resurrection', who met Kim Tae-won's daughter Kim Seo-hyun and Devin, who came to the U.S. performance in his place, praised Devin's 'sculpted beauty'.
Meanwhile, a handwritten letter that Devin sent to the U.S. Embassy for Kim Tae-won's visa interview was also revealed. Devin received applause for his eloquent writing style and the sincere, polite content of the letter.
After the visa interview, Kim Tae-won was ultimately denied issuance. He explained the reason for the denial, saying, "The marijuana incident from 40 years ago, according to my lawyer, 'shouldn't be a problem.' But they started from that incident again. It's a denial of issuance."
Previously, Kim Tae-won was caught smoking marijuana twice, in 1987 and 1991.
Regarding the opportunity for a document review, he expressed disappointment, saying, "I heard it takes 10 to 12 months for the consul to finish the review. None of the practiced questions came up." Kim Tae-won lamented, "There's nothing else that's empty, but my daughter... I'm sorry to my daughter."
Earlier, in March, Kim Tae-won had also applied for a performance visa but was denied.
Meanwhile, Kim Tae-won's daughter Seo-hyun revealed her American boyfriend Devin through the program and expressed her hope for marriage.
