Director Kwon Oh-seung of 'Trigger' commented on the Incheon shooting incident.
On the morning of the 22nd, a production presentation for the Netflix series 'Trigger' was held at Hotel Naru in Seoul. Director Kwon Oh-seung and actors Kim Nam-gil, Kim Young-kwang, Park Hoon, and Gil Hae-yeon attended.
Director Kwon Oh-seung said, "I was heartbroken about the unfortunate accident. I hope it never happens again. It's regrettable."
He continued, "The connection to 'Trigger' seems to be a different issue. When you look at the circumstances and outcomes of the characters in 'Trigger' who end up with guns, it concludes in a different approach and manner than what happened yesterday. The incident and the work will be clearly distinguished."
Additionally, Director Kwon Oh-seung stated, "'Trigger' wants to convey that we should understand the people around us and that we should not make such choices." He added, "Crime cannot be glorified. That is part of 'Trigger', and in the end, the character expresses a certain voice. If you look at that, it has nothing to do with glorifying crime. The message the work aims to convey is clear."
On the 20th, in an apartment in Songdo, Incheon, a suspect identified as A used a homemade firearm to shoot and kill his son with two shotgun rounds. It was reported that at the time, the victim's wife and two minor children were present in the house and could witness the crime scene. The police apprehended the suspect, who fled after the crime, around 12:15 PM that day and transported him to Incheon.
In response, Netflix was scheduled to hold a fan event called 'Trigger Talk and Shot' with fans at 7:30 PM on the 22nd and to broadcast the event live, but they canceled the live broadcast.
'Trigger' is a gun disaster action thriller that depicts the story of two men who pick up guns for their own reasons amid the continuous occurrence of gun incidents and the delivery of illegal firearms of unknown origin in the gun-free country of South Korea. It will be released on the 25th.
