Syu, a former member of the girl group S.E.S., will appear on ‘Star Health Ranking Number One’.

On the broadcast of Channel A’s ‘Star Health Ranking Number One’ airing on the 9th, Syu will join as a special examination participant.

‘Star Health Ranking Number One’ is a new concept health information program where all celebrity participants receive special health check-ups and are ranked based on their health. After a pilot broadcast in February, it has returned as a more entertaining and informative regular program.

Before the official start, the participants express their unique passion and aspirations for the regular program. The enthusiastic MC Han Da-gam reveals her ambitious goal to provide detailed health information, saying, “I will peel back layer by layer like an onion, even showing my toes.”

MC Ji Seok-jin also expresses confidence, stating that he prepared hard since the program is now regularly scheduled. In response, Lee Kyung-sil humorously adds, “I didn’t manage my health for this program,” and questions, “If my health results are good, will they use me?” Ji Seok-jin jokingly replied, “If all diseases are cured, it’s time for me to be kicked off this program.”

On this day’s broadcast, Syu, who is considered the number one celebrity people are curious about, joins as a ‘special examination participant’. Syu, who has been busy with parenting, shares that she agreed to participate without hesitation upon hearing it was a health program, revealing her health has significantly weakened as she entered her 40s.

In particular, during her prime as a member of S.E.S., Syu was so thin that a size 44 was loose on her. However, after multiple childbirths, she has gained over 14kg compared to her debut weight, recently reaching her highest weight ever, drawing attention.

As a result, all celebrity participants undergo abdominal CT scans and body composition tests to check for the ‘risk of yo-yo dieting’. They even had to submit stool samples to check for gut bacteria, which are considered a major culprit of yo-yo dieting. Ji Seok-jin humorously shared, “In my life, I’ve experienced all kinds of stool tests from the writers,” eliciting laughter.

Dr. Heo Yang-im, a family medicine specialist who came to share top-notch diet secrets along with the health rankings, looks at the participants' examination results and says, “Unexpected results came out,” sparking curiosity. “Based solely on current obesity levels, Dokgo Young-jae is undoubtedly in first place, but when considering the risk of yo-yo dieting, the results were completely unexpected,” she expresses her surprise.

Seeing the specialist's reaction, Han Da-gam admits, “I think my ranking will be the worst,” revealing that she indulged in sweet snacks like donuts, milkshakes, and chocolate shakes before the recording. Syu also initially expressed confidence, saying, “I don’t think I’ll be in the top ranks,” but by the end of the recording, she shook her head, saying, “This program is too wicked.” Dokgo Young-jae humorously patted his belly, saying, “If I don’t diet, there won’t be any yo-yo effect,” making the studio burst into laughter.

Meanwhile, Syu was indicted for habitual gambling amounting to approximately 790 million won from August 2016 to May 2018 in places like Macau, receiving a sentence of 6 months in prison, 2 years of probation, and 80 hours of community service. She also borrowed about 400 million won but was sued for failing to repay it. This was settled through mediation in November 2020. After a period of reflection, Syu returned as an internet broadcaster (BJ) and recently started a health food business.

‘Star Health Ranking Number One’ airs every Wednesday at 8:10 PM.
