Actor Lee Jong-suk revealed the reason for choosing ‘Seocho-dong’.
On the 1st, a production presentation for tvN's new weekend drama ‘Seocho-dong’ was held at The Link Hotel Seoul in Guro-gu, Seoul. Attendees included director Park Seung-woo, Lee Jong-suk, Moon Ga-young, Kang Yoo-seok, Ryu Hye-young, and Lim Sung-jae.
‘Seocho-dong’, which will premiere on July 5, depicts the growth and emotional journey of five associate lawyers (lawyers employed by law firms and paid a salary) who commute to the Seocho-dong legal town every day.
Returning to TV dramas for the first time in three years since ‘Big Mouth’ in 2022, Lee Jong-suk explained his choice of ‘Seocho-dong’ as his comeback project, saying, “Personally, I think I like stories about life and death. However, when I thought about what kinds of dramas I haven't done, I realized that I haven't done comfortable slice-of-life dramas.”
He added, “This time, I wanted to do a comfortable drama that I could do with my friends.”
Having played a lawyer in ‘Big Mouth’ as well, Lee Jong-suk explained the difference, saying, “At that time, I was in prison for a long time and couldn't show my side as a lawyer, but in ‘Seocho-dong’, I will be taking on the role of a lawyer in earnest. I will be portraying a lawyer who has been in the field for nine years and is somewhat complacent, so I was thinking about how to make it look realistic and what kind of seasoned seniority I need.”
He also talked about the unique strengths of ‘Seocho-dong’. Lee Jong-suk emphasized, “It was a project where I felt grateful to be working together,” adding, “I think the strength of our drama is the actors we are working with.”
Lee Jong-suk particularly mentioned actor Kang Yoo-seok, who has been achieving consecutive hits with his works, expressing confidence by saying, “I believe in Kang Yoo-seok's momentum.”
‘Seocho-dong’ will premiere on July 5 at 9:20 PM on tvN.
