SLL is expanding its production competitiveness by providing diverse content that resonates with audiences and crosses genres. One of the highly anticipated works for the second half of the year, 'My Youth', is an emotional romance drama about Sunwoo-hae (played by Song Joong-ki), who starts a normal life later than others, and Seong Je-yeon (played by Chun Woo-hee), who must disrupt the peace of her first love for her own success.
At the end of the year, a romantic comedy titled 'Waiting for Longitude' will arrive, featuring Lee Kyung-do (played by Park Seo-joon) and Seo Ji-woo (played by Won Ji-an), who reunite as the reporter who reported on their affair scandal and the wife of the scandal's protagonist, after having dated twice at ages twenty and twenty-eight.
OTT original series such as 'Cashier', 'The Price of Confession', 'Fine: Country Bumpkins', 'UDT: Our Neighborhood Special Forces', and 'Unfriend' will also meet viewers in succession. Upcoming titles like 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 3, set to be released on Amazon Prime Video on July 16, along with 'Undertow' and 'Task', will also contribute through global OTT platforms in the second half of the year.
Entertainment programs such as Studio Slam's 'Black and White Chef: Cooking Class War' Season 2, 'Crime Scene: Zero', 'Singer Again 4', and 'Top Class Makeup Survival: Just Makeup' are also on standby for the second half of the year. Notably, 'Just Makeup' will feature MC Lee Hyori, makeup artist Jung Saem-mool, and beauty creator Lee Sa-bae, who are representative experts in K-beauty, aiming to captivate global viewers who are enthusiastic about K-beauty. Additionally, the idol group CLOSE YOUR EYES will release a new album in the second half of the year and continue to build a global fandom.
SLL recorded an operating profit of 7.5 billion won in 2024, marking a return to profitability, and it is expected to achieve a turnaround in consolidated performance in 2025, coinciding with the turnaround of the overseas production company wiip.
In particular, after securing external investment in 2021, SLL has steadily increased content production, improving EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) to 87.1 billion won in 2023 and 102.1 billion won in 2024. SLL has been improving profitability and cash generation through its core business of content production, and with the expansion of new works and strengthening the performance of key genres including entertainment and new business sectors like music, it is projected to achieve over a 50% increase in EBITDA compared to the previous year in 2025.
SLL CEO Yoon Gi-yoon stated, “SLL aims to maximize profits through the optimization of content production quantity, targeting a return to profitability in 2025 by showcasing a variety of genres including dramas, entertainment, global production, and K-pop in the second half of the year.” He emphasized, “We confirmed in the first half of the year that SLL's strategy is moving in a positive direction, and if we achieve visible performance improvements, we may initiate procedures for an IPO within the year through discussions with institutions.”
