Former swimmer Park Tae-hwan talked about pensions.
On the 13th, KBS2's 'Newly Launched Restaurant' depicted Park Tae-hwan's daily life.
On that day, Park Tae-hwan visited a cafeteria in his apartment. Ordering three signature burgers, he showcased a storm of eating and expressed, "I can eat two for the price of one elsewhere," feeling pleased. The burger prices are billed later as part of the management fees.
When asked about pensions by the production team, Park Tae-hwan explained, "It's impossible to live off a pension for life. For example, if a silver medal is worth 10 points and a gold medal is worth 30 points, you need to accumulate all of that. You need to reach 100 points to receive a pension."
Park Tae-hwan accumulated all 100 points at his first competition, the 2006 Doha Asian Games, when he was a high school student. He said, "I won 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 3 bronze medals. That amount is as salty as a salt bread," smiling.
He continued, "Once you reach 100 points, you can receive a pension, but since I already had enough points, I received cash instead of points every time I won a medal. I received it as a lump sum. However, I donated most of the prize money I received," surprising everyone.
Meanwhile, 'Newly Launched Restaurant' airs every Friday at 8:30 PM.
